Philly Pressbox Trivia – PHILADELPHIA EAGLES

I was the starting QB for the Philadelphia Eagles for 18 games over 3 seasons. We won 8 and lost 10, going 3-0, 2-3 and 3-7 in those years. The other QB during the same 3 year period started 24 games, we had a record of 7-17 with him as the starter. As you can guess our overall 3 year record of 15-27 wasn’t very good but one of my years was good enough to get me to my only Pro Bowl. Do you know who I am? As a bonus do you know who the other QB was??

Leading up to the 1974 NFL Draft, the 1973 Penn State posted a 12-0 record including a 16-9 victory over LSU in the Orange Bowl.  That team scored 447 points on offense while the outstanding defense allowed only 129 points. There were 10 Nittany Lions selected in the ’74 draft. Who was selected the highest?

The 76ers made the playoffs in the 1990-91 season but didn’t make it again until the 1998-99 season. During the 7 seasons in between they had aan overall record of 181 wins and 393 losses. Their worst season in that stretch being 18-64. How many coaches did the team have during those 7 seasons? We’re looking for a number but if you know the name(s) add them as a bonus.

On February 13, 1973 against the New York Islanders I became the first Flyer in team history to score 4 goals in one game in our 8-2 victory. We were actually behind 2-0 after the 1st period and scored 8 unanswered goals. I scored 3 of my goals in the 2nd period and one in the 3rd. Two were on the power play and two were even strength. Do you know who I am?

I am not the Philadelphia Eagles all time career leading receiver in yardage, however, I do hold the record for most yards receiving in a single season. I also hold the 4th spot and the 18th spot in that category. Each of those seasons were greater than 1000 yards and the seasons came back to back to back. Do you know who I am??

Most people know that Steve Carlton, Robin Roberts and Grover Cleveland Alexander hold all of the Phillies pitching records. However, I’m ranked #3 in games pitched in Phillies history behind #1 Roberts and #2 Carlton. While theirs were mostly starts I only started 18 games, the rest were in relief. You know who I am but might be surprised I pitched in so many games for the Phils. Who I am?
